Located on the Dutch coast, The Hague is the seat of the government and many international organisations, including the International Criminal Court. The city is well known for its historical sights, its arts and culture scene and its impressive architecture. Below are some photos from recent trips.
One of The Hague’s most famous sights is the Binnenhof, a huge complex of government buildings built in the 13th century. It is also the seat of the Dutch Parliament, making the Binnenhof an important political site. Visitors can take a guided tour of the buildings and learn more about the history of this impressive complex.
Another must-see for visitors to The Hague is the Mauritshuis Museum, which houses an impressive collection of 17th century paintings, including works by Jan Vermeer, Rembrandt and Frans Hals. The collection is impressive and offers an insight into Dutch art history.

If you are interested in architecture, you should visit the Peace Palace, which houses the International Court of Justice. The palace was built at the beginning of the 20th century. It is an impressive example of the Dutch Neo-Renaissance style. However, I only visited it from the outside.
Another attraction, especially for children, is the miniature park Madurodam, which is a miniature version of The Hague and other parts of the Netherlands. The models are designed with impressive attention to detail and offer a unique insight into the country and its culture.
Last but not least, Scheveningen Beach is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. It is one of the most famous beaches in the Netherlands and offers many activities such as surfing, swimming and sunbathing.
Binnenhof – seat of the Dutch government.
Mauritshuis – a museum that houses the Royal Picture Gallery. One of the most famous paintings on display is “The Girl with the Pearl Earrings” by Jan Vermeer.

Scheveningen – once a small fishing village, now the largest seaside resort in the Netherlands, with a 381-metre-long pier, observation tower and Ferris wheel.
The Hague has something for everyone and is a wonderful destination for those who want to experience a combination of history, art and architecture.
